Uporaba informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologija u komunikaciji zdravstvenog osoblja i zdravstvenog sustava s bolesnicima postala je neizbježna. Postoje izražene specifičnosti komuniciranja u odnosu na vrstu pojedinih tehnologija, i to kako u odnosu na komunikaciju medicinskih profesionalaca s građanima, tako i na komunikaciju profesionalaca i ustanova u zdravstvenom sustavu. Uporaba informacijskih tehnologija mijenja pristup komunikaciji s pacijentima i unutar sustava, organizaciji institucija i zdravstvenog sustava. Promjena postavlja zdravstvenu, ekonomsku i IT struku u sve ravnopravniji organizacijski odnos, koje tako pronalaze zajednička rješenja za učinkovitije i ugodnije poslovanje i komunikaciju s pacijentima i među profesionalcima, ustanovama, sektorima i državama. Partnerski poslovni pristup institucija i tvrtki tih struka, za razliku od pozicije kupac - izvršitelj, omogućava bolji način provedbe informacijskih implementacijskih projekata

The use of information and communication technology (ICT) in communication between health professionals and between health care system and patients has become a necessity. There are many specific aspects of this communication with respect to the type of information and communication technologies used, which depend on whether health professionals communicate with patients or among themselves or whether it is a communication between different health institutions. The use of information technology is changing the approach not only to communication with patients and communication within the health care system, but also to the organisation of health institutions and health care system as a whole. Thus, health, economic and IT aspects have become equally important in the organisation of health care system, finding common solutions to more efficient, faster and more convenient operation and communication with patients and between professionals, institutions, sectors and countries. Such a partnership approach, as opposed to buyer-vendor relationship, ensures better and more successful method of implementation of most IT implementation projects
